How SOZO embraced sustainability as a core brand value

At SOZO, we’re committed to building websites that are creative and impactful yet also eco-conscious.  It is a very tricky balance to strike between creating an effective website which gets you enquiries whilst minimising your impact on the planet.

But SOZO’s status as an environmentally friendly web design agency goes beyond what you see on the screen. Alongside the real-world measures we talked about in last month’s blog, we’re proud to have joined up with carbon offset platform Ecologi, who are helping us achieve a climate positive workforce, plant our very own SOZO forest and support worthy projects around the world.

A climate positive workforce

As you’ll see from SOZO’s green pledges, lots of small-but-positive lifestyle changes can make a big difference. Now, becoming B Corp and by joining Ecologi, we’ve stepped up our commitment to become a climate positive workforce, making payments to offset any carbon footprint produced by our staff, websites or business travel. To date, we’ve offset over 600 tonnes of CO² – and we’re proud to have a certified carbon positive workforce by Ecologi.

Supporting the best projects around the world

But what happens to the carbon offset payments SOZO makes to Ecologi? We’re glad you asked. In consultation with a team of environmental experts, Ecologi uses its members’ contributions to fund some of the most deserving eco projects around the world. So far, SOZO’s payments have helped Ecologi invest in good deeds ranging from a peatlands restoration and conservation project in Indonesia, to a drive to convert methane emitted from Turkey’s landfill sites into green electricity.
