This month SOZO is taking on some of the world’s largest tech giants at the prestigious UK Green Business Awards.

The awards recognise organisations that are striving to build an economy that is sustainable, healthier, and more prosperous for all, while celebrating inspiration and innovation in the ‘green space’.

SOZO has been shortlisted in the ‘IT project of the year’ category for its pioneering ‘eco-mode’, which offers users a low carbon website experience.

As a finalist, SOZO is joining some illustrious global brands, including Google Cloud UK, Lenovo UK and Sage, that have each delivered significant projects in the name of climate change this year.

SOZO’s eco-mode is a feature designed to reduce the carbon footprint of websites without compromising user experience or brand impact. It gives users the option to switch to a low-energy version of a website, thereby reducing data transfer, image weight, and CPU usage, all of which lower the carbon emissions generated by website browsing.

“We’re incredibly proud that our efforts have been recognised alongside some globally-recognised brands,” said Shaun Uthup, Founder and Creative Director of SOZO.

“As a B Corp, we believe we have a responsibility to protect our planet and help others do the same by making sure that sustainable websites are the default, not the exception.”

The internet accounts for around three to four per cent of global carbon emissions; eco mode is a great example of how SOZO is helping brands minimise the impact of their digital footprint, while maintaining exceptional website performance.

The awards event takes place on Wednesday 24th June during London Climate Action Week.
